Winter Scene

Surface used, Bockingford NOT 140lbs. Winsor & Newton, Cotman tubes. Size A4. I tried to experiment with using only Paynes Grey. I painted the scene from a photograph taken in the Lake District, UK. I have been painting since last September.

The water is amazing - so very difficult to paint for me. You painting 'speaks' to me. It has an almost haunting quality to it. Love it.

Hi Michael

Thanks for your comments

Shades and the use of light to dark grey is wonderful. The grey color was the right choice, it is giving that feeling of winter

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Michael:
Excellent well balanced composition. Great use of lights, darks, details, perspective. Payne's Grey is a favourite of mine.
Have to add....I spent many a happy hour cycling from Townhill, Swansea to Llanelly .....many years ago :o)

Excellent use of payne's gray. My paintings took a turn for the better when I started using that color. Good job!
