Turmoil at Sea

by Karla
(USA)

This is the 1st watercolor I have ever done. It is on a 12 X 9 wet canvas. As suggested by Bob. I like how it turned out except I need practice on rocks!

Hi Karla:
This is a difficult subject. Great sky......more spray needed for the waves against the rocks. Try adding a bit of white and use a small sponge to push the water up the rocks to make it look like spray. For the rocks....dip your brush in a few colours (don't mix)....paint in a rock shape then while still wet use a razor blade to scrape out shapes in the rock.Takes practice but the result is worth it.

Yes now I have done other paintings with more light. I have found rocks are my downfall I need much more practice on them. Karla USA
