Hi again it's Alan with a test painting on wallpaper it's 1000 lining paper from B&Q @£3:28 and cover's 5 square yard's. The test painting's about 11" X 15".


It's my first sea painting and hope you enjoy it there was a problem getting the cloud white as you can see.

I found if you want the clouds white .paint white first the create the shadow of the clouds with the blue to add the shape .Good luck

Hi Alan,

I like your painting and the way you have painted the waves but like Mops I think that if you put the ship approx a third of the way in either from the left or right it would probably help your cmposition and make the ship a better focal point. I know that doing this would mean you had a tree in front of the ship but try leaving out the tree.


These are just my thoughts.

Hi Alan:
A really pleasant little scene. I think your ship might be better a little off center. One way of getting white clouds....while the blue paint is still wet get a piece of kitchen paper....scrunch it up and lift out the blue with light swirling movements.

Hi Alan.Very nice painting.I would probably change the angle and height of one of the middle trees so they don't look the same.Otherwise good painting.
