For smaller quantities of paints, McDonald's transparent catsup cups are fantastic, and they can be sealed airtight with the lids that come with them. Even quickly drying medium like acrylic stays wet much longer. For larger quantities, the readymade jello cups are great. Ofcourse you will have to finish the jello first :)
