staithes village

forgive me Bob if i have posted this twice i am not that clever with computers and i wasnt sure if the first one made it. The painting is taken from a photograph ithought would be a good exercise in perspective.

It is painted on rowney 140lb cold pressed watercolour paper using wiinsor and newton cotman paint i am reasonably pleased with it but i think the shade on the wall behind the blossom tree could be a bit dark. What looks right in a photo doesnt always seem to carry into a painting.

Your thoughts and comments would be appreciated folks

I agree that the shade on the wall behind the blossom tree could be a bit dark. In general I like it, the colors are pleasant.

The most important step is choosing the hue and the saturation of the blue paint. It plays the important role in emotion of the piece.

I appreciate this painting

One of the things that I appreciate most about paintings is when the painting lets me be in a place that I will never see. The richness of your colors and the distinct architecture both do that well. Tthanks for inviting us. Penny USA

Flowers

I think your painting of Staithes is very good. I have been there often, and think you have captured it just right. Shadow is different at certain times of the day, and the strength of the sun, so I would say...keep up the good work..excellent

Staithes Village
by: Mops

Hi Steve:
There's a lot of thought and work gone into this painting.....amazing detail. I like the way the pink flowers on the right, and the houses on the left lead you into the picture to the focal point with the various shapes and colours of the houses. The wall above the pink flowers is perhaps a bit too dark but you have enough interest in the center of the painting so the eye is taken away from it.
Just my thoughts :o)

Good perspective
by: Dorothy , Carluke

Hi Steve,

You've tackled a difficult subject and did a very good job on it.

Perspective is good and I would not like to climb that hill loaded with shopping!!!

I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Well done,

Dorothy

Your painting is good Steve, the blossoms look as though they are peeking out at the Village, as well as bring a softness to the scene. You have the Perspective down pat I'd say.

You picked a difficult subject and I think you've done very well. I think the shading on the near wall is just fine.

Well done you!
