Spring is in the Air
This painting was done when walking in the woods - for years, along the Connecticut river. As spring approached there was a distinct change in the feel of the early morning air and the colours of the trees that changed so slowly that not until that slight warmth to the air was felt, was I able to also see how the palest 'fringes' of green were starting to appear.
The mornings were still cold but that was about to change, given nature's new 'tinges' that began to appear in subtle hints of green and life surge on the brink.
There was also so often a mist over the trees because of the water being so close.....so it was always, magnified a bit .....especially when the sun was 'about to break through' -- silent moments of seeing the changes occur have always been most inspirational.
This is oil on canvas and I have never wanted to sell this particular
painting because of the 'feelingS' that are within, it !
I was living in East Haddam, Connecticut at the time and used to walk my Golden Retrievers and Springer Spaniel for at least an hour before going home and preparing the day for painting. I miss it very much (Connecticut).
