Mid-Wales

Sorry I've been away so long....moving from house to apartment. Just adding a painting to let you know that I'm still here and will try to comment on the great paintings displayed as soon as I recover.

I was given a photograph....somewhere in mid-Wales I think. I liked the limited pallete and different greens I could see, so decided to try it.
Paper is 140 cold press.Paints....Winsor Newton....transparent as usual. I'm not too happy with the trees but I quite like the relaxed, loose painting on the water.

My best wishes to Bob and everyone for a great new year.
Mops

(Thanks for the kind thoughts - they are unhesitatingly returned with best wishes in your new home...
Bob)

Wonderful play of light
by: Anonymous

I really like your loose style and choice of colors. Though you say it is a limited palette your use of so may different values makes the number of greens infinite.

I am just new here and not an expert but I DO know what I like. Good work.

Enjoy your new Home
by: Karla

Hi Mops! Hope you enjoy your new home and welcome back! I too have been gone a bit! Painting a bit and just dealing with life.
I love the painting! I see no problem with the trees, and I love the water. The painting is so realistic...again great job!

Coincidence
by: Dorothy , Carluke

Hi Mops,

Nice to see you back and may you enjoy happiness in your new home and in the coming year.

Ain't life a funny thing. I am in the middle of skething out a Welsh bridge but I am having the most awful time with the background trees - too many and having to edit out and shift and fiddle with sketches. I had it done and then tore it up in disgust at the mess. The photograph was given to me by a friend who thought I would like to have it for the basis of a painting.

I just hope when I am finished 'felling' and moving trees around the finished article will be half as good as your painting. I think it is great.

Well done,

Dorothy
