Smokey

This picture is painted on Daler Rowney Pastel Paper using soft pastels, hard pastels and pastel pencils. It measures 12" x 10".


I am a "cat person" and liked the expression on this little moggies face.

His eyes were a challenge but I am happy with they way they have turned out.

I am not too pleased with the background colour, I think it is a bit too pink but my original idea was to compliment the colour of his fur.

Hi Everyone,

Many thanks for your lovely comments re 'Smokey' it is very encouraging to read such positive remarks.

My next cat will be my present one 'Mac' he is a champagne tabby but unfortunately was involved in a road traffic accident when he escaped from the house when he was only 8 months old.

This accident resulted in him loosing an eye, together with a fractured jaw, broken nose and most of his front teeth. I think I might use 'Smokey' to give Mac back his eye but I am not sure what to do whether to paint Mac as he is or make him whole again.
