Serenity

by Mary Fraser
(Montreal)

I was so attracted to the peaceful grace of this woman , my camera did not truly capture what I painted . I also realized after that I have her shoulder lines wrong . And also what works in a photo does not work in a painting . I will have to change her eyebrows . But I'm having fun and love sharing .

Mary I also like her eyes. I have never attempted a portrait I am intimidated about giving it a try. I envy anyone who can. Keep them coming.

Eyes

Hi Mary, I like the eyes on this lady, so gentle. I hope you don't mind me saying but I think they are much better than the ones in your "Child" painting

I know what you mean about using photographs. I too use photographs quite often but I make a sketch from the photograph first putting in the shadows etc as I find this helps when it comes to doing the painting.

Keep enjoying your painting it is a great hobby.
