Quietly By The Sea

Quietly By The Sea

Acrylic on Canvas Paper 12"x16". This was such a peaceful quiet day and I had to capture the seremity of the place. I think I managed to do that but I am wondering what I could have changed to make it a better composition. It was especially challenging to paint all the rocks and try to vary the shapes and sizes and capture the texture. I am not sure what I would change if I was to paint this again.

Light houses are my favorite to paint. You captured this scene beautifully. I like your sky. Rocks are sometimes difficult but you did a great job with them.

This is really lovely, walking down the path of this painting seems like walking into Heaven. I would next time sign your name on the right side of the painting in the corner, just not on the path, it takes it away from the illusion/painting. Very nice.

By the sea

I love this painting, it makes me want to run up that path. The rocks look so real. One thing I'm a little concerned about is that the path is leading me out of the painting, maybe a small tree of shrub leaning back into the painting somewhere around the end of the path.

Hi Connie:
Beautiful painting. Maybe darkening the rocks and road a bit at the front of the painting, and fading out the background shore and tree line a litle would give it a little more depth....but I'm just being picky. Love it.

I would lose the rocks ..just because they are there doesn't mean you have to paint them .

A beautiful painting reminds me of Nova Scotia .

Well done

It's excellent. Sometimes I take photos like this - potrait, to get all the lighthouse in view for a mid-range shot. Try a quick sketch as a landscape and see how that grabs you. When I look at it, I'm drawn to the sailboat on the right. I get a sense of walking up the path to meet the boaters on the shore (To see how many lobsters they caught).
