Poppies

This is an 8x10 canvasboard . I made 9 of these for christmas gifts . I have not worked with oils before and I really enjoyed using them. They blend so easy, almost to easy. I blended everything into one color more than once because of my tendency to overwork the paint.

I found mixing the reds to different values a little hard and the leaves a little difficult. I was always concerned they were not dark enough but since I began with a black background I could not go to dark. The gold ribbon isn't much here but when it was framed with an antique gold look frame it all came together.

I painted so many I probably do not see imperfections so your fresh view point will be very valuable. I will look forward to your comments.

Fabulous

I don't see any imperfections opal, this is absolutely fabulous. I am trying to learn to use oils myself, but the thought of using a dark background scares me to death. I love this and wish I'd been on your Chrismas list!

Lovely but I think you might want to make the gold ribbon stand out a bit more - it's a little dull.
