Poppies in a vase

Poppies in a vase

I retired 2yrs ago and decided I now have time to paint. (something Ive always wanted to do) After my neigbour gave me a lesson I plunged in and did this one, on slightly rough paper approx 4in x 10in.done from a picture in a book.

The hardest part was to put paint to paper as Im not the most confident of people. Like you Bob I was put off at school by the teachers ways of teaching.
I thought it wasnt too bad, even with all its faults, so it spurred me on to try some more.

Hey!! Everyones got to start somewhere and I think you are off to a great start. You will find that by taking up painting you have many hours of enjoyment to look forward to. Great job. Looking forward to more.

Keep on painting
by: Dorothy , Carluke

You've done a great job here I am very fond of poppies.

Painting is a great hobby and I hope you continue to paint. I was in my late 40's before I picked up a brush in earnest although unlike you I did have good art teachers who did encourage me.

Anyhow that is another story.

Well done.

Excellent effort
by: Balaji

I think for a first attempt your colour work is excellent. Overall the picture would have been better if you had given the same degree of attention to the vase also, giving it some colour and bringing out the contours of the vase.
