Pop-Art Elvis

by Karen Meacham
(Clarksville, TN)

This acrylic on 24" x 30" canvas of Elvis was first drawn using a projector and then painted in bright reds, golds, and blues. My inspiration was my love for the king of rock 'n roll and desire to display him in my music room/office. The biggest challenge was getting his face in the right skin tones, but I was most pleased with the different tones of his blue jacket. If I paint him again, I will try my skill at drawing him instead of using a projector.

I like your pop-art Elvis. I especially like how you've conveyed the metal of the microphone looks real.

I agree that you should try to draw without the aid of projector takes a little longer but I find drawing very relaxing.
