Summer in Northern Ontario

I used 140lb cold press paper and a mixture of Winsor Newton and Maimeriblue paints.
I'm not too interested in figure painting mainly because I'm not very good at it. However I took a picture of my son with his kayak up in Northern Ontario, and I really wanted to paint it so badly so I made up my mind to work at it.

I studied the figure in relationship to the kayak and made several rough sketches. When I felt reasonably satisfied with the sketch I transferred it to the watercolor paper and then filled in the background.
Have to tell you.....I was bitten to death by little black flies up north.
