I agree! Brushes and paper in a good quality can help to make better paintings.

I think it's also important to use different sizes for different subjects.

Round or flat, fan brushes, linerbrushes, filbert brushes. Every subject and every technique needs another kind of paintbrush.

I completely agree with the good choice of brushes. I have a few of my favourites which I use over and over again, too (#'s 4,6,8, 10 or 12). If I could find a nice 1 -2" flat brush in sable, I'd buy that too. No luck so far, though.

Great article, Irene! Happy New Year!

thank you for telling me this as i keep saying that i thought the brushes had a lot to do with the way paint held on the brushes.

I agree with you fully! I too went through the Cheaper brushes! I found them just fine because I had not experienced the sable ones! Now I have and find them much better! This is a great article to share for those that do not know!
Thank you Arlene.

Thanks bunches Irene for sharing your 'brush experience' ...i liucked out with brushes when a whole set was put on sale (sable) . Yet it is the same 3 brushes i use most and 4-6 that i also use when needed . I too could have spared myself needless expence if i would have just bought these ones...even on sale the brush set was pricey and there's some i've never used .
