This is acrylic on canvas, and was what I managed from a photograph. Did it for my bro in North Carolina just as a Big Sis keepsake since they will be selling this antique in the near future. He and his wife have worked diligently to keep this house in original state, even though we're in 2007.

Depth perceptions a little off, methinks, but each painting I do shows areas for improvement.

AAAaaaah. Go ahead. Critique me. I can take it, and not to worry, am not expecting all those stars that I see here already. Grins.

Just for fun, as Bob says. I so much enjoyed so far Bob's tutorials and continue to learn.

5 stars for you!

Jeannie, I think you have done a very nice job and I think you do have to have 5 stars...Maybe a little more shading but you will get to that.

Monte:

I thank you for your comments, and right, you are. Should have done some sky...and methinks my camera uploading of this pic to my computer didn't correctly correspond to the actual colors I did use.

For sure, I used no blue for sky! Thanks much.

I have tried acrylics(even took a course) but I simply can't use them . It is certaintly your medium .
I don't do the star thing the program does and I love your attitude .

Not sure but did you use a ruler for all those straight lines ...I did that for an art class city landscape homework . My teacher said NO MORE USING A RULER ...I stopped and slowly my city landscapes became better . She pointed out we were niether photgraphers or archatecs (SP).Mary

Nice Work
by: Monte

Hello Jeanie

This rendering has a unique kind of charm,it warm & inviting & your brother should be proud of all your efforts here! You didn't mention size of canvas but the brick work looks good as does the trees and surrounding landscape plants. However, the roof, porch, walkway & windows while adequately rendered, you've used warm colors varing shades of yellow, having done so I think this composition would benefit from a light cerulean blue skyline (yours is yellow)& perhaps a cloud or two would be nice! Well those are my thoughts! Keep painting & most of all keep having fun!
