Mt Rainer, WA Acyrlic 1/1/2008
(Granbury, TX, USA)
My son is in the USAF and has been stationed in Tacoma, WA for the last couple of years. He has fallen in love with Mt. Rainer and plans to hike to the summit next year. When visiting him this past summer, I too fell in love with the mountain and decided I would try to paint it. 5 months later...I am almost there with it!
The painting is about 6x9 on 140 lb cold pressed paper. I'm still in the thumbnail stage and want to get it right before committing to an 11x14.
Overall I'm pleased. I think the sky needs some work..haven't decided what yet. I like the snow and I think I have pretty good depth on the tree line. Would like to have some of the mountain top reflected in the water - so will try that next time.
I hope to do this on an 11x14 and submit it in my first juried artist competition..gulp! :)
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated!
Thank you for your time and Happy Painting!
