Acrylic on Canvas Board 46 x 55 cm

This is another painting following the theme 'The cinema' in art class. I loved the film 'Moulin Rouge' and found a poster which inspired this painting. I decided to only paint the face and hand of the man to give it a dreamlike quality.
I am pleased with the way it turned out although I could have put more folds in the dress.

moulin rouge

Hi Audrey,

Last year I visited Paris and I was sitting in front of a little bar opposite the Moulin Rouge, and I could hardly breath because of the smell of gasses from the touringcars and cabs, bringing all the people to Moulin Rouge.

That wasn't very romantic, but your painting certainly is. I like the warm red colours.

Hi Audrey,

I think this is very good I like it very much. I only have one slight reservation about it and that is the girl's hand. I know it is supposed to be round the man's neck and resting on his shoulder but somehow it looks as though it is waving about in mid air. Perhaps just a hint of his shoulder would help. I can see nothing wrong with the folds of the dress they are picking out her shape perfectly.

Well Done,

Regards,

Dorothy
