Mothering Cub

Mothering Cub

This picture was done using a set of coloured pencils. I originally painted this picture using a painting by numbers then after completing that i thought it would look nice using soft colours in pencil, so i took a leap of faith and gave it a go. I first thought that if i was going to do this then do it properly so i made this picture huge. It is full size of A3 on white sketching paper. It took me about 3 hours from start to finish i am very pleased with it as it goes and quite proud of myself for finishing it. I have also used this same sketch as a subject and copied the mother's head using pastels i have uploaded that too so if you want to compare the two feel free to do so. as always criticism is welcome.

Thank you for your comments i appreciate them, as to other pictures of wildlife the answer is no but at the moment i am trying to do a barn owl so that should be fun, i can see what you mean regarding shadows and the use of them would enhance this picture but at the time i done it i wasn't to clued up on how details like shadows and light can transform a picture so for future ref i will do it. thanks again

Nice and colorful. Did you try other animals yet?
You might want to include some shadows.
