I thought I would try my hand at painting a human. This is a portrait of my youngest daughter, Kaylan.

Done on a 12 X 16 canvas board in acrylics. I really struggled with the neck and the hand. It took me AGES!! Oh well... my first go at the human. Any blending tips (using acrylics) would be muchly appreciated! Cheers. X

You've achieved success in your "struggle". The hand and the shadow on the neck are awesome!

Hi Megan,

A very nice portrait, the skin, the eyes, the jewellery are beautiful.

Perhaps you should lighten up the light part of the neck a little in the same colour as the face, now the colour of the neck is different: The neck is brown while the face is a light pink, but that's just my idea.

I like your portrait very much. Well done!

Hi Megan:
Your portrait is just beautiful.
Only comment I have.....I find blending much easier if I put a layer of gesso on first and add the other colours while it's still wet.

Beautiful painting and subject

Hi Megan,

You've done a super portrait. I can't fault it in any way and I especiallly like the way you have painted her hands and even got the creases on her fingers.

I have never used acrylic for portraits only charcoal and pastel so I'm afraid I cannot advise you sorry.,

Regards,

Dorothy

You did a marvelous job on this porrait. She is a very pretty girls.
I don't use acrylics so can't help you on that. The hand and neck look fine. Sometimes we are our own worst critic.
