John Lennon in Oil

Commissioned Oil painting of John Lennon on good quality watercolour paper. A4 size. It was my first commission so I was a tad nervous but thankfully the young lady liked it so all was well.

My main concern was trying to get enough tonal differences in to make it look three dimensional and not a flat picture...still not 100 percent sure if I succeeded but it has a good home now so nothing I can do about it.

What a refreshing change, how nice to see John in a different light. It is certainly him alright, but so often he is seen as some hari krishna type follower, (don't suppose I spelled that correctly - don't wish to offend), I know he had his beliefs, BUT there was a lot more to the man and you have certainly shown that!

My son would love this for his bedroom, he has a picture of him on canvas like the one I previously mentioned, but I prefer this!

Hi Ian,

Good portrait, and you succeeded in getting tonal differences. Even if you hadn't mentioned his name, one can see it's John Lennen.

Beautiful!

Hi,

I think you have captured John's character and features to a tee. I think the tonal values are fine. A good job well done.

Takes me back to my salad days in the 60's. A great time to be a young and yes I can remember it! I even saw "The Beatles" live in concert in Glasgow.

Regards,

Dorothy
