This was an acrylic painting on a stretched canvas. The size was 18X24 inches. I started out wanting more of a challenge, and this did challenge me to learn new methods, information about color theory, and much more. I especially wanted the eyes, nose and mouth to be the focal point. The right side of the face, was a challenge, because my original reference picture was very poor. I ended up get about 10 other reference pictures to help with details, such as ears, whiskers and plantes.
This was the first picture I ever entered into a contest. I entered it into the amateur division of the Morton Punkin Festival in Illinois. Over 100 picture were submitted in three divisions. My Jaguar won first place in the amateur division and it also won Peoples Choice of all the division. I was in heaven!!!
If has really given me confidence that I can paint. So I continue painting like always, but with alittle more confidence.
