Highland Bay

by Carole
(Scotland)

I used Gouache on canvas. It measures approx 12 inches x 8 inches. It was done from a photograph that had taken when visiting the Torridon area in October. I loved the feel of the place when I was there and this inspired me to try to paint it.

It was my first time using gouache paints, (I had been using Acrylic paints before this one). I started to paint 2 years ago when I was coming up on my half century and am self taught and very critical of myself.

I find that the tips I get from this site have helped me enormously, but still have a long way to go. I hope you like it, and would appreciate any tips you may have.

Thanks.

Hi Carole:
Majestic indeed! Love it. I always regret the fact that I never got to visit Scotland, especially as my Grand-father was born there. Great combination of colors...all unifying the painting.

Hi Carole,

I think you have captured the tower peaks of the Torridon region which drawf the small village below. I also love the way you have painted the water.

Makes me feel like heading north to recharge my batteries.

Regards,

Dorothy
