Grey rocks

by Lana
(Avellino (Italy))

I feel this fantasy acrylic creation of mine lacks the right perspective. There is something wrong with it. Everything's a bit messy, too. I hope next time it will be better. I enjoy Bob's tutorials and all the information on this site!

I'm only too glad to receive any kind of comment!

Any time I've tried acrylics it ends up a total mess of unrecognizable what ever . I'd keep at it if I had painted what you did . My only comment would be to vary the shape of the rocks ..but that's me . You have a neat imagination .

Balance
by: Dorothy , Carluke

Hi Lana,
I like your painting it's different.

I think the balance of your painting is needing a bit of attention. I think if you were to lighten the trunk of the large foreground tree. It is ok to do this in art. This is called counter point or counter change it is late and my brain is getting tired.

Anyhow that would help the tree and to balance the tree you could make the sky at the right hand side darker and lighten the mountain peaks and lighten behind the tree.

These are just my feelings.

Regards,

Dorothy

I LIKE IT
by: Linda

You may be unhappy with it but there is some surreal about it that I really like. It is unusual - not everything has to be true to life it is interesting to view something a bit different at times. It is like something from a book - an eerie illustration.

Well done!

Rocks
by: Angeline, the Netherlands

Hi Lana,

I like the rocks and the open space in the middle.

I think when you had painted a thin, dead tree with only some branches without leaves on the left side, there would be more balance.

I think the big tree (it is a tree, isn't it?) is to massive in proportion to the smaller rocks, and that causes the wrong perspective, but that's my opinion.

What do you think?

Fantasy creations
by: Barb

Lana,
I agree- there is something about the perspective that's off. Could it be the rock mass on the left? It looks flat. However, it's fantasy - so who cares?! It's a good work on a tough subject - they are tough for me as well!

Thanks for sharing your work!
