Inawashiro

There is something about this picture that I really like. I don't know what it is and I know that in real life the mountains would be darker in this type of light. But I decided not to change it because I liked it subtle glow.

It was painted on 300gsm bockingford rough paper. Colours used where Cadmuim yellow deep, Cobolt Blue and Carmine.

The blue mountains were not painted over with any washes. Each wash was done around the mountains and then continued in the foreground. After the sky and lake were completed I painted in the mountains and the reflections of the mountains on the water.

It's not that the mountains are too bright, they just don't comprehensively reflect light that makes sense. Also, the range looks like it's sinking into the sea probably because the waterline is to straight. Outside of those discrepancies, your blending technique is superb!
As an afterthought, maybe it would have worked better with a change in perspective - placing the mountains further in the background leaving the color just as it is, and lightening the sky just a bit.
