Framing Pictures - Complete Video Series
That minor masterpiece you've just completed deserves to have a wider audience. But framing pictures is invariably one of those jobs that most people prefer to leave to a professional framer...
Yet it needn't be so. It's not that difficult to do it yourself.
Get more than one or two pictures framed (especially for the local art group exhibition) and it can run into quite an expense.
And sometimes things don't go exactly to (your) plan. For example, the mount board on a drawing where you've used pastels or watercolor paints isn't quite the shade you thought you ordered... or the framing material itself is not what you remember specifying.
If you've used oil paints, perhaps a bit more of the picture than you expected has been lost at the edge of the frame, which affects the overall composition.
Then at busy times, you might find the framer can't fit into your deadline. If you've got that upcoming exhibition or the picture's intended as a gift, this gives you a real headache.
Don't get me wrong, most professional framers offer a first-rate service. But at times, all of these things have happened to me.
I've framed most of my pictures for several years now. In that time, I've saved a small fortune and...
I was sure the picture was seen at its best.
