Fixative

Treat your pastel artwork with fixative after each layer. The colour & texture will NOT change providing you do not spray too close to the image itself - read the instructions on the fixative can for recommended spraying distance.

By treating each layer with fixative, it will allow you to add fine details without dragging through the previous layer which can cause 'blocking'.

Good Luck!

Hi! What kind do you use? Do you use the Krylon?

I suggest you take a look at Greg Biolchini's painting with pastels DVD (80min) in which he shows how routine fixative use can darken the pastel colour and the luminosity of the pigments is lost
