DOG ROSE IN COLOUR

by Pat
(England)

This picture is one that I have already submitted in the drawing section, I was asked if I was going to colour it so I have, the picture is of a dog rose and I printed it out from the drawing stored on the computer, so it is on just copier paper, painted with acrylics it is about a A4 size and I just wanted to see if I could colour it as I had seen the illustration in the book I draw it from,I also put a frame around it off the computer.

Hi Pat,

I wouldn't worry about the colour deepening on the screen - something to do with the computer, I think (my son is the expert on computerS, so I'll ask him and let you know)

It would be ok if you just blended where the dark pink met the light pink. Try just getting rid of the definite line.

Have a look at Bob's rose on this Issue of Starting Art. Although Bob's rose is in watercolour it will give you the idea also about working dark against light.

I think some folk re-post their work after they have received suggestions and altered their work accordingly.

Regards,

Dorothy

Hi Dorothy,

yes I am finding the shading a little less of a problem at the moment, the colour started out as pale pink but on putting it on the internet the colour has deepened, and I don't know how to get the pictures off and to re enter them. I will redo and blend them more.

well done for trying this in colour, but I think a more delicate shading of the pink into white would help

Hi Pat,

I asked my son about your colour problem and he says it could be a lot of things.

Perhaps it is the camera or sometimes the way a computer is configured it will not give an exact match colourwise.

As I said I would not worry too much about this as the rose is still pink and the green is still green.

Regards,

Dorothy
