Cheap, non toxic clean up

Use detergent, yes, regular liquid dishwashing detergent (not the store brands, but standard brands like Dawn, Palmolive, Sunlight) instead of turps, commercially sold thinners and cleaners.

I find that even those odourless cleaners give me a headache and that toxic buzzz. Detergent will clean all those fine particles of pigment off your brush hairs, particularly around the ferrule where they are likely to build up. Rinse well, finger shape hairs to point, lay flat to dry. Once in a while use hair conditioner to keep the natural hairs from drying and becoming brittle.
