I do not agree with using hairspray. I always use fixative from a reputable art shop. My art teacher says never ever use hairspray. Yes I know it is cheaper but if you value your paintings it is best to use proper fixative. Do not use too much fixative though, don't go too heavy as it will dull your colours, just a quick burst of spray will do. Good luck to you all. Ann in Adelaide

Hairspray does last as a fixative, same thing really.

I did hear that hairspray dose not last. This question was raised in a American Artist mag.
Apparently the cheap fix is not always the best. I have read many conflicting views on fixatives.
