Cathys Otter.

Who said that?

Who said that?

This is a picture drawn by my partner Catherine who has never drawn anything before or used Pastels, and has managed to make me look a complete divot by producing a picture as lovely as this!

Needless to say that after my useless, effort, ie that appalling Elephant under the heading of African Giant, I shall humbly surrender my Pastels to her and slide back under my rock and never draw, and I use the term loosely anything again.

Cathy has drawn her otter on A4 printer paper with my soft pastels, hum oh well.

Hi Jonathan,

I agree with the others: DON'T STOP!!!!!
Keep practicing, and you will see that it only improves. Perhaps Catherine and you should draw toghether, so you can learn from each other.

If you are not satisfied, try again, and again and again. Once you will be very proud, when you succeeded.

And if an animal is to difficult, try something more simple. There are a lot of things much easier to draw. But again: Don't stop!

the otter is well done but the mistakes with your elephant didnot render it awful . Keep drawing it .. the proprtions will come . A word to the wise , don't judge yourself by any other standard than yourself . Keep at it and you will keep getting better . I thought you captured the essance of the elephant.

Cathy's Otter

Hi here:
What a cute little fellow.I think the background could have been defined a little more but that's just my opinion.
Jonathan....you can't give up that easily. Most of us have practiced for years...you just need "staying" power.I used to throw a lot of work out until I took a course with Zoltan Szabo and he told us that a painting reaches an "ugly" stage and we tend to give up. He told us to stay with it and we'd get past the "ugly" stage and produce a good painting. It works.....!!

Hi Johnathon,

Catherine has made a lovely job of this cheeky little fellow but that does not mean to say that you should give up.

I thought you were making good progress with the waterclours. Why not go back to them and please don't hide under rocks.

Regards,

Dorothy

Jonathon,
Please don't stop drawing. I can see that your friend has talent, but that doesn't mean that you can't draw. I'm better than some and worst than others. Just enjoy!
