Carmel Beach Scene

9x12 on 120lb cold pressed Monteval paper. Going through old photos of a vacation in California this struck me as something I wanted to try. This is my third attempt at painting anything. No instruction except what I've gotten off cable and the internet, so would greatly appreciate suggestions for improvement. Biggest challenges were trying to make the rock formation & shadows stand out + struggling with bad bleeding when I tried blending in wet on wet. When viewed from 1+ feet there is some definition and that is pleasing. Thanks for any help

It is really good to do that kind of a painting on your attempt. Keep it up. All the Best.

While some parts show definition the rock formation on the right with green&brown looks very flat and non defined. The rock formation in the right foreground is better done than the others. The waves highlight the ocean element. Not bad for an amateur with no training.
