I have always been fascinated with the eyes as I am sure most artist are, I find it a rewarding challenge to try to capture someone's personality through their eyes so when I chose to draw this baby, graphite pencil on plain paper), it was my intention to continue to capture the personality with eyes closed.
This piece is approximately 10 by 15 inch. I had a difficult time with the proportions of the eyes and nose and sizing the head to fit. I tend to draw the eyes first and shape the head last. I think that the shading is done with the most ease.
If I was to do this piece over again I would choose to do it in pastels and on a higher quality of paper and put a wash in the back ground.
