a study in movement

by Mary Fraser
(MONTREAL)

This sketch is an exercise I do . I put a DVD in my laptop and then capture frames . It is done quickly with pencil and diluted watercolors. This month is an anniversary for me as it's now been a year since I began drawing and paining daily.

My 1st painting , which I now wish I'd saved , was a truly aweful landscape done with acrylics . But I had fun and made the decision that was the true gift . Slowly what I did began to look like what photo or subject I was trying to capture .

I really apriciate all comments and critiques . Mary

Sincere Study
by: Todd

Thanks for posting this. I've done this kind of excercise before and have been thinking about doing it more often lately. There is a guy who has made a course of about a thousand drawings using the same technique. If it's good enough for the pros, it's good enough for me.

Good Idea
by: Dorothy , Carluke

Hello Mary,

I think this a good idea in practicing quick sketching but the images are very indistinct. I wonder if perhaps if you used a lighter coloured paper the images would be clearer.

Contratulations on your first anniversary in art.
May there be many more.

Regards,

Dorothy
