A Single Tulip

Hi It's Alan again with my 4th painting.

This is a painting I watched on television on the Drawing & Painting Channel.

This painting was painted a couple of day's after I watched it on television.
It's painted on wallpaper again lining paper 1000 the picture's 10"*14".
As this is my first painting of a Flower I though I'd send it into see what you thought.

Good job Alan. What company sponsors the channel? Haven't seen one in my area.

Hi Alan:
Nice effort! Good colour and shading on the flower. You've got the idea of the leaf bending over, but don't be afraid to make your "darks" dark and your "lights" light. Find some pictures of tulips and study the structure.....especially the leaves. When your leaves are still wet drop in another colour here and there....makes things more interesting.

Like most of us you need to LOOSEN up. Check out some Chinese brush paintings and see how loose they are. Another thought.... Try working wet on wet. When the paper is dry... try some negative painting over the base color to form a flower shape.
