A Beautiful Man

(Oklahoma)

As I have stated, I am a true novice, and I did this piece b4 I started the drawing lessons.

This is again drawn on regular sketch paper, using only pencil this time. The drawing is 8'x 11'.

My inspiration was a very good friend of mine who has also inspired me to believe in myself. I drew it while looking at a photgraph of my friend. Although it lacks symmetry, I'm still pleased.
For me the hard part was shadowing and just getting it to look the way I wanted.

I think I would like to try this drawing again because I have learned so much since this was done.

Again, I'm looking to express the emotion I see, in myself and in the subject.

Please, your comments and suggestions are very welcome.

good attempt
by: sonya

any attempt is better than no attempt. you have made a nice piece for a first one. one thing that my art teacher told me that maybe of help to you is to observe--really observe a picture/subject for 10 mins or so (whenever possible)before trying to reproduce it. this is a great exercise as over time, you begin to notice different colours and different lines and features add shadows in the photo. keep at it.

This was a good first piece I have seen worse believe me in the history of ART!!!!!!!!! the eyes show a lot of emotion. Keep drawing believe me you will make it, if you have drive. Read as much as you can and listen to people who are prepared to give their names.
