1st Bloom

This is my first attempt at painting. It's done on 16 X 20 canvas board in acrylic. I had forgotten my love of drawing until a few years ago when I decided to do a portrait of a loved one. I realized that I could still sketch and would positively love to paint some of the things I drew. Also, it's been a great stress relief from a long day in the office.

It is my first attempt to translate my sketchbook to canvas. It's not as easy as I thought. This is me trying to reproduce a photo in a "how to" book on acrylic painting. The shading was a little difficult for me, although I love the bold colors. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. With practice I would like to get good enough to sell some of my work in online auctions. I'm having fun any way it goes.
